CallTower DID Porting Timelines and Process

This document outlines the steps, timelines, and requirements for porting Direct Inward Dialing (DID) numbers with CallTower, ensuring a smooth transition between carriers.

Key Steps in the Porting Process

1. Initiation, Discovery, and Select RDD (Requested Due Date)

  • Activities:
    • CallTower collaborates with the customer to create a Letter of Authority (LOA), authorizing the port activity.
    • Customer provides a recent carrier invoice (dated within 30 days) and, if necessary, a Customer Service Record (CSR).
    • Pre-validation of number portability is conducted.
  • Requirements:
    • LOA must match billing or CSR information and be signed by an authorized company contact.
    • Toll-free numbers require a separate LOA.
  • Duration: Pre-validation ensures smooth processing.

2. Order Submission

  • Activities:
    • CallTower gathers all required information and coordinates the order request with relevant teams.
  • Duration: 1-2 days.

3. Carrier-to-Carrier Order Submission

  • Activities:
    • CallTower submits the port order to a partner carrier, which notifies the old service provider.
    • The new carrier validates the port request based on the LOA.
  • Notes:
    • Inconsistent LOA information may result in order rejection.
    • Complex orders (e.g., over 50 DIDs) may take longer.
  • Duration:
    • Domestic: 3-15 days.
    • International: 6-45 days.

4. FOC Granted and Port Scheduled

  • Activities:
    • The old service provider validates the LOA and grants a Firm Order Commitment (FOC) with a port date.
  • Notes:
    • FOC is the expected port date.
  • Duration:
    • Domestic: 8-10 days.
    • International: 10-30 days.

5. Port Readiness

  • Activities:
    • CallTower ensures all systems are ready for the port date.
    • Customers confirm readiness for the FOC date.
  • Notes:
    • Changes to port orders require at least 5 business days’ notice and may incur additional fees.
  • Duration: At least 5 days before the port date.

6. Port Completion

  • Activities:
    • On the FOC date, the carrier change is activated, completing the port.
    • Scheduled ports occur automatically, while triggered ports require manual activation by CallTower.
  • Timing: Typically occurs Monday-Friday, 8 AM–3 PM local time (varies by carrier).

Summary of Timelines

  • Domestic Porting: 8-15 days (average).
  • International Porting: 10-45 days (depending on complexity).

Conclusion

CallTower’s DID porting process ensures a seamless transition with clear steps, timelines, and support to minimize disruptions.
